What Restaurants Would I Have Swapped To

If we had been able to visit this September a few of the restaurants I had planned for us to dine in are currently closed. Below are the restaurants I would have swapped to. Some of the restaurants I had planned to visit may be open currently but as they have a limited menu may have removed the vegan option and as we were travelling as a group with mixed dietary needs I swapped to restaurants that had something all of us could enjoy.

Day 1 Plan

Visiting Animal Kingdom. Having lunch at Yak and Yeti. Visiting Disney Springs in evening. Having dinner at Blaze Pizza.

Day 1 Alternative

Both of these restaurants are currently open so no changes would be needed. Yay!

Day 2 Plan

Visiting Hollywood Studios. Having lunch at Fairfax Fare and dinner at 50’s Prime Time Cafe.

Day 2 Alternative

Switching lunch to Backlot Express and still eating dinner at 50's Prime Time Cafe.

Day 3 Plan

Visiting Magic Kingdom. Having breakfast at Be Our Guest Restaurant, lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern and dinner at Columbia Harbour House

Day 3 Alternative

Switching breakfast to Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary Resort. We could visit this restaurant on our way to Magic Kingdom as it is just 1 monorail stop away from the park! Still enjoying lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. Then popping over to Wilderness Lodge to have dinner at Roaring Fork.

Day 4 Plan

Visiting Orlando's Premium Outlets. Having a character breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace and dinner at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort.

Day 4 Alternative

Topolino's Terrace is open and the only hotel currently offering character dining, which is fantastic news! We would continue to have breakfast here and swap dinner to The Wave...of American Flavors at the Contemporary Resort.

Day 5 Plan

The plan was to visit Typhoon Lagoon, have lunch at Leaning Palms and then have dinner at our resort in Boma.

Day 5 Alternative

Typhoon Lagoon currently remains closed. Because of this I would have swapped to visiting Disney Springs to browse some shops and catching a movie at the AMC Theater. We would have eaten lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express. For dinner I would switch from eating at our resort, as Boma is currently closed. Instead I would have swapped to spend the evening in Animal Kingdom and have dinner at Tiffins.

Day 6 Plan

Visiting Magic Kingdom to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Lunch is included in the tour and we would be dining at Pecos Bills. After enjoying the tour and park we would have dinner at the Grand Floridian Resort in the Grand Floridian Café.

Day 6 Alternative

Both are open so no alternatives needed. Woop woop! The Keys of the Kingdom tour is temporarily suspended so instead we would have just enjoyed a full day in Magic Kingdom.

Day 7 Plan

Today would be a resort day exploring everything Animal Kingdom Lodge has to offer. I had planned to have breakfast at The Mara and visit Sanaa for lunch. In the evening we would be visiting Universal's City Walk so would pop into Disney Springs for dinner beforehand at

D-Luxe Burger.

Day 7 Alternative

The only location open for breakfast at Animal Kingdom Lodge would be Sanaa, but as we were eating there later in the day I decided to pop over to one of my other favourite resorts, the Polynesian Village Resort, and have a relaxed breakfast at Kona Cafe. We would then head back to Animal Kingdom Lodge to enjoy the pool and Savannah. We would go to Sanaa to have some lunch (and order the famous bread service!). In the evening we would still head to Disney Springs on the way to Universal City Walk and eat at D-Luxe Burger.

Day 8 Plan

Today we would be exploring Orlando. Before enjoying everything the city has to offer we would head over to the Polynesian Village Resort to have breakfast at Capt. Cook's. For dinner we were going to the character dining experience I was most excited about; Storybook Dining with Snow White at Artist's Point at Wilderness Lodge.

Day 8 Alternative

Capt. Cook's is open so we would have gone there for breakfast. Currently Storybook Dining is temporarily closed so I would have swapped to a beautiful fine dining dinner at Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian Resort.

Day 9 Plan

Visiting Hollywood Studios. Lunch at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Galaxy's Edge, cooling off with some mocktails at Oga's Cantina and then enjoying dinner at Mama Melrose's Italiano Ristorante.

Day 9 Alternative

These locations are all open so no changes needed!

Day 10 Plan

Today would have been a relaxing day playing some miniature golf to save energy for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween party in the evening! I had planned to have breakfast at Boma and an early dinner at The Plaza in Magic Kingdom before the Halloween party started.

Day 10 Alternative

Miniature golf is currently open so we could go ahead with that activity. Unfortunately Boma is currently closed so because of this I would have swapped breakfast to Ale & Compass Restaurant at the Yacht Club Resort. Although Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party has been cancelled for this year we would have still visited Magic Kingdom in the evening to enjoy the decorations and character cavalcade so could still visit The Plaza for dinner.

Day 11 Plan

Visiting EPCOT. Breakfast at Sunshine Seasons. Eating from the Food and Wine Festival stalls for lunch. Enjoying dinner at Tangierine Cafe in the Morocco pavilion.

Day 11 Alternative

There are currently no restaurants open for breakfast at EPCOT so I would have swapped this to having breakfast in our room with cereal bars that we had bought at a supermarket at the beginning of our trip. The Food and Wine Festival is currently happening. Yay! So for lunch we would indulge in all the awesome foods from the stalls. Tangierine Cafe is currently closed so for dinner I would have swapped to Spice Road Table, Teppan Edo or Rose & Crown Dining Room. EPCOT has so many great restaurants it is hard to pick where to eat!

Day 12 Plan

Visiting Animal Kingdom. Having lunch at Satu'li Canteen. Hopping over to the Polynesian Village Resort for dinner at Ohana.

Day 12 Alternative

Satu'li Canteen is currently open so we wouldn't need to make any swaps in Animal Kingdom. Ohana is temporarily closed so I would have swapped to Topolino's Terrace at the Riviera Resort for dinner. I had planned for us to eat here for breakfast earlier in the trip and I think the dinner menu sounds so delicious so I was excited to try the amazing evening dishes they have on offer.

Day 13 Plan

Visiting Magic Kingdom. Lunch at Casey’s Corner. A special treat for dinner to enjoy our final evening at Disney by eating at California Grill in the Contemporary Resort.

Day 13 Alternative

Casey's Corner is currently closed so I would have swapped to Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skippers Canteen for lunch. California Grill is open and is an amazing choice for a special meal! It is also one monorail stop, or a short walk, from Magic Kingdom so is the perfect location after a day in the park.

Day 14 Plan

Our final day! One more visit to Magic Kingdom to say goodbye to the castle. I planned breakfast at our resort in Sanaa and a final lunch at Be Our Guest Restaurant in Magic Kingdom.

Day 14 Alternative

Sanaa is currently open and serving breakfast. Earlier this year Be Our Guest changed from a quick service restaurant at breakfast and lunch and table service at dinner, to a table service restaurant for lunch and dinner. The vegan options have gotten very mixed reviews so because of this I would have switched to another restaurant that is also a treat; Cinderella's Royal Table. Finishing the trip off by eating inside Cinderella's Castle sounds pretty special to me!

Although it is disappointing when a restaurant you were really excited to dine in is no longer an option there are still lots of amazing restaurants you can switch to. I hope this post has helped with some suggestions!
