Disney are always trying to offer new services to help improve guests experiences and the latest updates help making dining at Disney World even easier!
Two new features are now available on the My Disney Experience app. These are mobile ordering at certain table service restaurants and the new walk up check in option, which helps people without dining reservations be able to join a virtual queue to dine at certain restaurants.
The My Disney Experience app has always been super handy. It keeps all the details of your trip to hand but also offer ride wait times, opening times and maps. Since reopening the My Disney Experience app has expanded what services are available and now it is a must for anyone visiting. You can now check in to your resort, use the app as a virtual key to open your room door, check-in to your dining reservations, order your meal with the mobile ordering option and get your boarding pass for Rise of the Resistance. The app has so much to offer!
Mobile Ordering Now Offered at Table Service Restaurants
Mobile ordering as been around for a while but previously was only available at certain quick service restaurants. This year Disney have been adding more and more locations due to the operational changes they have implemented to help guests still be able to enjoy visiting Disney World whilst keeping people safe from Covid-19. To ensure social distancing and less contact guests can use the app to order their food, select a time window in which they would like it to be prepared for and then receive a notification when their meal is ready to collect.
The most recent additions to mobile ordering are three table service restaurants. This is the first time table service restaurants have ever been available to use the mobile ordering option. You can now order from the following restaurants and take your meal to-go.
Mobile Ordering is now available at the following table service restaurants:
- Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge - Kidani Village
- The Wave...of American Flavors at the Contemporary Resort
- Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Village Resort.
What do you think of the option of being able to now order food from table service restaurants to-go via mobile ordering?
Walk Up Check-In Now Available on the My Disney Experience App
The second new feature available to help make guests dining experiences at Disney World easier is the new walk up check-in feature on the My Disney Experience app. This option is perfect for people who haven't booked dining reservations in advance. You are now able to join a virtual waitlist for the restaurant you wish to dine in. This helps maintain social distancing as guests no longer have to stand about in the foyer of the restaurant whilst waiting for a table to become free. Instead you can walk around enjoying the park whilst waiting for your table to be ready.
This new system is available in the My Disney Experience app. When near the restaurant you wish to dine in you can open the app and select that restaurant. You are able to see the current wait time and can then add your dining party to the waitlist. You are also available to give details of any dietary requirements, which I think is a huge plus! Once your table is ready you will receive a notification.
